Hi,
I read your last post with interest as I can understand your thoughts regarding recent bets. There is no doubt that every gambler has good times and bad. To be honest, I think the only way you can consider the worth of a gambler is by the way they respond to very difficult periods when a string of losing bets truly tests your confidence and resolve. I have had a number of testing times but all I can say is that as long as you keep the faith and try and remain objective that things have a way of working themselves out. I have found that I learned some valuable lessons from difficult patches and long-term this experience will give you greater insight.

Personally I cannot recommend BetAngel Pro highly enough, it's a great piece of software, many people use BetAngel Pro to scalp the markets using the graphs etc that is in BetAngel so if your software you currently use doesn't allow that then it's definatly something worth looking into. Also the "dutching" and "Bookmaking" option within it works very well in a lot of markets.
Personally I started trading on Betfair after reading a few peoples blogs and me and a few mates decided that we would all start with a bank of £150 and we all had to see who could make the most money from that by whatever means they wanted. I choose Betfair trading and using small stakes of laying selections first and then backing them and using the "dutching" & "bookmaking" options I've made £600 profit from it, the way I look at it is that even if you pay the max amount of £30 a month for BetAngel Pro then you only have to make £1 a day to break even and thats easy to do and builds up your trading knowledge.
I've not had much time to trade recently so just have mainly been using the "bookmaking" option within BetAngel pro and making a few £ that way, I'm currently around £100 up no matter who wins on Big Brother now and thats using my Betfair bank of just £100 (I took most of the money out after not having much time to trade recently)

Hi Matt & Graeme. Thankyou for the comments. Im interested in trading as I would like an additional steady way of making profits. I am looking at making some drip-feeed type profits. To be honest, I would only start off with a £100 or so as my betting bank just so that I could play about with it, and see where it takes me. I do enjoy the normal 'gamble' in that I do like to back a horse to win or laying it to lose on Betfair. Whilst I am showing a nice profit for the past few days, I know from my own checkered history that there will some big troughs and small peaks, due to the way I am betting, i.e. chasing losses through the Stop at Winner strategy, laying at prices upto 9.0on betfair. And as far as tipsters go, I do agree that you do become lazy and rely solely on their tips, but as Im starting to find out through reading blogs like JP's that there are some good, genuine tipsters. At the moment, I think one is enough and to be honest I dont think I've learnt anything new from that service as I just blindly back them at the moment. I do need to work on my own backing tips as at the moment it is quite basic and runs along the "Each Way Thief" type bet and that's about as much as I know.

I would echo Matt’s comment about trading to be honest. If you can make decent amounts from ga,bling, I’m not sure if trading is the way to go.

I know Matt is against using tips but one point I’d make is that there are people out there who specialise in providing this kind of service and their knowledge can be very good in some cases. I would put up tipping legends as an example of that at the moment.

However, I would agree with Matt that using your own judgement and knowledge will ultimately be much more powerful in the long-term and therefore, I’d be against paying for any tips unless they have proved themselves or you feel you are learning something from them.

Are you sure you wanna start trading when your betting is showing such a reasonable profit? Not that I agree with stopping at a winner, but it wil be difficult to trade your way to superior profits on horse racing, but easily possible to make much more on sports if you know what you are doing.

Software, IMO BFexplorer doesn't ooze "professional", I found it a bit clunky and unprofessional actually. Binarysoft was the best, but has ceased to be offered so the next best is Bet Angel Pro, which is excellent for most persuits, you won't find a better piece of software at the moment.

I'm fairly well known for my dislike of using tips, it builds reliance / dependance on the tip givers dicretion.. you have no idea of the quality or agenda in the tips... don't bother lining their pockets. Your own judgement, learning and knowledge is much more powerful... everyone has their own way of doing things, that's the right way to go.
